Biography

Richard M. Riebeling has served as the Director of Finance for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County since his appointment by Mayor Karl Dean in November 2007. 

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Riebeling’s professional career included public finance investment banking, private legal practice, and newspaper reporting.  In addition, he had two prior public service assignments, serving as an aide to former Nashville Mayor Richard Fulton and as Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development under former Governor Ned McWherter.

 Mr. Riebeling has a law degree from Vanderbilt University (1983) and an undergraduate degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri (1974).
