Health Law: Fraud and Abuse Laws

Description:

If you are new to health law or are someone who represents health care clients on legal matters and need a refresher of the major areas of law regulating health care, this program is for you.

This session will introduce viewers to fundamental fraud and abuse laws by examining a hypothetical situation in which a physician practice is acquired by a hospital. The panel will explore key concerns that can arise in the actual transaction as well as those that commonly follow. The speakers will provide an overview of key health care laws implicated in these and similar situations, including the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute, the Federal Physician Self-Referral Statue(Stark), and the False Claims Act.
