Estate Planning & Probate, Animal Law

Animal Law: Estate Planning

Description:

Animals are considered personal property in estate planning law. They pass to the person who receives the decedent’s other tangible personal property, such as the decedent’s clothing, furniture, jewelry, etc.  That person can keep (or discard) the animal just as he or she could keep or discard the decedent’s other personal property. In this session the speaker will discuss Basic Estate Planning, Historical background on the treatment of Animals in Estate Planning, and Pet Trusts under Tenn. Code Ann. § 35-15-408.
