2016 ATJ Committee CLE: Introduction to Pro Bono Opportunities & Common Legal Issues

Description:

This CLE is intended for individuals interested in volunteering at a pro bono clinic or in a related brief advice setting. The presenters will provide an overview of the types of pro bono opportunities that exist in Tennessee and an introduction to some of the most common issues raised by clients at these clinics. The CLE will also provide an updated introduction to the new Tennessee Free Legal Answers (formerly Online Tennessee Justice).

Topics Discussed Include:

  • Counseling at a Pro Bono Clinic: Family Law Issues
  • Counseling at a Pro Bono Clinic: Financial & Debt Issues
  • Pro Bono via Tennessee Free Legal Answers

This CLE is available free of charge as a project of the TBA’s Access to Justice Committee. By participating in the CLE and certifying your attendance, you agree to work with a local legal aid organization to provide pro bono support. Your name and contact information will be provided to legal aid groups in your area and you will be contacted about pro bono legal clinics, representation or other opportunities for service.

The presentation was great and offered a lot of tips and confidence when answering questions at a pro bono clinic.
