A Year in Risk Management: The Road Map to a Better Practice Part 2

Description:

Properly established and efficient practice management processes and procedures can pay big dividends in protecting against malpractice claims and ethics complaints. Bulletproofing your practice in these small ways allows you to concentrate on your clients rather than the day-to-day operation of your firm. And while every lawyer wants effective systems, too often, the hardest part is developing a strategy of review and implementation for the law office operation. This program is for every lawyer who wants better procedures but lacks a road map for reaching a better practice. In part 2 the speaker will discuss topics related to Client Intake, Issues of Fees and Fee Agreements, File retention, Social Media, and Disaster Recovery.

There was some very helpful information regarding letters to clients to decline their case, keeping in mind ethical considerations. I also found the information helpful regarding employees that work for your firm and a social media policy. Overall, I found this very informative.

I never thought about organizing firm-type matters the way the presenter described. It gave me something to consider, even though I work for a corporation and not a firm. The presenter was very knowledgeable about the topic he was discussing and had a pleasant way of presenting it, so as to hold the viewer's interest.

I learned about how it is important to address ethical issues from the very outset in your engagement letters. I also learned how important it is for small firms like mine to manage risk proactively.

Good presentation.

I found the discussion about declining representation, cyber security, and establishing a strategic plan most helpful.
