    In this seminar Jason Ehrlinspiel from the U.S. Attorneys office will discuss settlement and case resolution in regards to dealing with the government. Some of the learning objectives in the course include settlement considerations, settlement authority, required approvals, standard settlement provisions, structuring the settlement, who the government pays, and settlement on appeal.

  • Federal Practice: Federal Torts Claims Act

    The Federal Tort Claims Act of 1946 allows the federal government of the U.S. to be sued. In this presentation attorney Lane McCarty will discuss the history of the act. The speaker will also give an overview of the Administrative Claims, Statute of Limitations, Filing a Claim, Exceptions, Damages and Post Judgement.

  • Federal Practice: Some Differences in Litigating Civil Cases Against the U.S.

    Sovereign immunity refers to the fact that the government cannot be sued without its consent. The government has the ability to waive their sovereign immunity. In this presentation Kenny Saffles, Assistant United States Attorney will discuss Exceptions to Sovereign Immunity. Some of these exceptions include FTCA, Title VII, ADEA, Rehab Act, and FOIA. The speaker will also go over the Statue of Limitations, Filling in Appropriate Court, Settlements and Appeals.
