  Are you in your first few years of practicing law? This new series will teach you skills you can apply in your everyday practice. This presentation will discuss best practices in keeping time, setting rates and billing.

  In our discussion we will cover Rule 1.5 of the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct. Topics include: ethical consideration of fee agreements, reasonableness of fees and expenses and terms of payment.

  Participants will see examples of draft communication and suggestions for different scenarios. Understanding the scope of representation between a client and lawyer is fundamental in the practice of law and applies to Rule 1.2 of the Tennessee Rules of Professional Conduct.

  Understanding confidentiality to include consent and disclosures is fundamental in representing clients ethically. To review conflicts our discussion will cover risks associated with representation, concurrent conflicts of interest and competency.
