Dispute Resolution

ADR 2016: Neuroscience

Description:

Neuroscience has discovered a great deal in recent years about how humans process information and respond to situations in which a threat of loss exists. Mediators must understand and adopt practices which align with this science in order to improve their ability to facilitate agreeable outcomes with parties cognitively paralyzed by conflict. This session will establish the physiology underlying successful mediation.

I found this presentation fascinating. The information presented has application in legal/mediation practice as well as everyday life. I thought the example of being asked to count the number of times the people in white shirts passed a ball to be extremely compelling, as it brought to light my own limitations in perception a the top of talk... it was shocking to learn that I'd missed seeing a gorilla while I was looking for something else, and made clear to me that I don't know as much as I think I do. Wonderful, enlightening, highly useful material presented here.

Good course.

This provided some interesting and counterintuitive insights into the psychology of mediation.

This was the best CME or CLE that I have watched. It held my attention the entire hour. I learned a lot.

This skilled presenter enlightened me as to elements of brain function the knowledge of which can aid in a mediation.

Very interesting and well presented.

I was very engaged with the presentation.

The speaker had great visual examples to demonstrate his point and help observers realize the truth, meaning, and importance behind the presentation. I would attend another presentation by this same speaker. He was very well spoken and presented dense material in a manner which could be understood.

Best useful CLE program I can remember from standpoint of time and content! Thanks!

Interesting.

Interesting program; a longer program with examples from mediation, or even role playing, would enhance the ability to apply it in a legal setting.

Every lawyer deals with negotiations on behalf of their client, and this CLE gave important insight into how we can help our clients move from emotional thinking to a more rational approach to solving their problems.

Really enjoyed the presentation and the presenter. He's very knowledgeable and engaging and easy to listen to. He was fully prepared and everything went smoothly.

Fascinating.
