Fire Origin and Cause Part 2

Description:

The purpose of this course is to educate the participant on basic fire science; that is, the elements needed to have a fire and how fires grow and spread.  It then discusses the methodologies used to determine the origin and the cause of the fire and the elements required to sustain a proper opinion as to where the fire started and what the cause or mode of failure was that led to the fire.  The course explains the rules of the Scientific Method that are used to properly investigate any fire.  Attendees will find value in this seminar due to the court requirements that the origin and causes of fires need to be shown with scientific certainty prior to any other action that is taken to defend against fraudulent claims or to recover against a product or individual through subrogation. Topics include:

  • Fire science basics
  • Fire behavior
  • Methods of tracking a fire’s path through a structure
  • Determination of burn time
  • States of fire development and their effects on burn characteristics
  • Elements of determining fire origin and other methods
  • Determination of cause
  • Case examples

Very relevant as I have case pending involving arson/insurance breach of contract. Thank you.

Great presentation! The case studies were very helpful and engaging.

Really well done. Very interesting.

Very good presentation.

It would have been more helpful to address evidence preservation (versus spoliation risks) when an attorney is called to a fire scene. How fires start and spread is helpful information, but placing it in the context of the attorney's actual duties on a fire scene would have been more helpful.

Excellent examples.
