Controlled Substance Prescribing: Evolving Standards during the Opioid Epidemic

Description:

Controlled Substance Prescribing: Evolving Standards during the Opioid Epidemic will address significant Tennessee legal requirements and Tennessee and federal guidelines for prescribing controlled substances and some related laws affecting dispensing. After a review of existing standards under Tennessee physician regulations, the Prescription Drug Safety Act of 2016, and other laws, the program will address new Tennessee laws responding to the opioid epidemic, which has been declared a national emergency. Finally, the Tennessee Chronic Pain Management Guidelines and federal guidelines for prescribers will be considered. One or more scenarios addressing how the various requirements apply will be used to illustrate the discussion.  The primary focus of this one-hour program will be to inform counsel who advise prescribing physicians, healthcare practitioners, health care entities.

I found the presentation very informative and very timely. Great job! Really enjoyed this CLE!

This program is very, very detailed and presents very technical information. Presenter spoke quickly without pauses. It is difficult to absorb all of this in 1 hour. My suggestion is to break the program apart for separate presentations applicable to prescribers, dispensers, metal health practitioners, pain clinics, etc.

Good resource information.

Very helpful scenarios.

Well done.

The presenter seemed very focused on stating why this was a bad thing and they must control it, as opposed to figuring out the difference between drug seekers and those with legitimate long term pain, and how to tell the difference, and how to make sure those with the long term pain are taken care of and not cut off with the extensive focus on making sure they control what they view as the problem.

This was very interesting. I didn't realize doctors had reporting requirements.

I have represented physicians who operate or are employed by a privately owned Pain Clinic, and I try to keep abreast of the laws, Rules and Regulations, research, guidelines, and related facts involving addiction and overdose deaths. I learned the 2018 new requirements that are applicable to Pain Clinics and other useful information. Thank you.

Excellent update on the new requirements for the providers and dispensers.

Very comprehensive materials.

Well laid out set of slides.
