How Mindfulness Can Help You Avoid Legal Burnout, Continue to Competently Perform Legal Services, and Remain Ethically Compliant

Description:

As attorneys, constant stress is often a part of the job. If we don’t effectively manage chronic stress, however, it has the potential to cripple our productivity levels and make it physically, mentally, and emotionally impossible to effectively advocate for our clients and ourselves. Further, we run the risk of running afoul of the rules of professional conduct.

Instituting even one or two minutes of meditation and mindfulness into our daily routines can have immediate and far-reaching benefits in our professional and personal lives. Become your best self now. Join us as we demystify meditation and focus on the basics of mindfulness: what it is and isn’t, how to do it, and how to maximize its benefits. We will delve into specific methods of integrating mindfulness into your day-to-day law practice.

This 60-min CLE session will empower you to:
• Protect yourself from burnout
• Improve focus and boost your overall productivity and efficiency
• Curb anxiety and stress thru quick, effective “spot treatments”
• Use mindfulness to enhance ethical decision-making and conflict resolution

Perfect content for this time.

Excellent

The presenters were engaging and knowledgeable. Thoroughly enjoyed the session.

The mindfulness session was very helpful after the substantive training. I appreciated the list of signs of burnout and interweaving the ethical rules.

I enjoyed the guided meditation part.

Really enjoyed this program--especially the interactive mindfulness exercise. I learned that while stress affects most attorneys, mindfulness and meditation can help to control that stress. Also was reminded that stress can detract from the quality of your work--another reason to have tools to keep stress in check. Thanks to the TBA for this program!

This was a very good program. I had previously considered meditation, but had never tried it. The meditation at the end of the session was very good to try. It showed how a short meditation session can decrease your tension during the day. I also thought the suggestions about being mindful about the cases you accept and generally about managing your cases were good suggestions. Finally, thanks for mentioning Zoom fatigue. It is something we are all experiencing. I am pushing to have more depositions in person now that the pandemic is in a different place.

Excellent Information

This was a great reminder. Being a yoga teacher as well as a lawyer, I know all the breathing and meditation techniques, etc., but I have not been remembering to take my own advice and take that time for myself. This is a great reminder of why I need to do that. I did not know that meditation actually created (and stress reduced) more brain matter. That is very interesting. I feel much more relaxed after the guided breathing. I went to the website signed up for the emails. I'm pleased to have discovered this community and the related mindfulness resources specifically geared towards attorneys. I think our profession would benefit so much as a whole if every lawyer just took 5 minutes out of every day to practice mindfulness, chill out, and do the box breathing exercise, and our clients would certainly benefit as well! Thank you so much!

I have personally used meditation practices with our law firm and encouraged mindfulness during the stress of the pandemic. The presenters were knowledgeable and approachable. I enjoyed the guided meditation. I would have liked to see a few resources on where to turn to, such as the headspace app.

Thank you!! Thank you!! This was wonderful and at a time I needed again to be reminded to take better care of me!!

Appreciate the bar encouraging wellness in the legal community.

I learned that mindfulness in the practice of law applies in more ways than I realized. For example, being mindful of your competence and state of mind when you choose to take a legal issue that is out of your area of usual expertise. Additionally, I found the lesson on box breathing basics interesting.

I enjoyed the presentation.

I needed this! Great program.

very informative.

Enjoyed this CLE very much.

Great!

Best legal ethics course I have attended in 34 years in practice!

Such valuable information for lawyers. Scary the statistics.

The first speaker was really interesting, especially her references to the Model Rules.

I am so very grateful I got to experience this meditation and for the lessons learned about taking care of my mental health. I am excited to become more consistent with my own meditation practice and keep that appointment with myself, as was taught here. Thank you, presenters!!!

Very helpful.

Interesting course, good info

Important topic, thank you for focusing on this!
