This program is co-sponsored by TBAs Communication and International Law sections. It will explore privacy law through both an international and domestic lens. Attorney Lee Matheson will give an overview of the privacy law landscape from an international perspective, including various international health information privacy aspects. Attorney Justin Joy will provide an overview of domestic privacy-related laws with a focus on those laws directly relevant to communication law practitioners (e.g., privacy-related limitations on public record access, expectations of privacy, etc.), accompanied by an overview of health information privacy in the US, specifically, post-Roe v. Wade privacy-related considerations following the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization decision in 2022.

Informative content. Great panel.
Lots of information but I wish both presenters had used a powerpoint because that made it much easier to follow.
I selected this presentation with the intent to learn more on the status of HIPAA, however, I got a lot more out of it than expected. I enjoyed learning about the development of privacy and customer privacy protections. The CLE gave me a new perspective about privacy laws and why I should pay attention, even if my practice is in other civil areas.
