Criminal Law Forum 2022: Adverse Childhood Experiences and Root Causes of Problematic Behaviors

Description:

Adverse Childhood Experiences and Impacts on Executive Functioning, ACES scores, are known to be correlated with physical illnesses and atypical neural development. The CDC recognizes the growing impacts of "toxic stress" on the population as a growing public health crisis but how do we apply this knowledge to understanding and management of "delinquent" behaviors in client populations. In this conversation we will explore the neurological impacts of ACES, the importance of de- escalation skills, and the need for early intervention as important next steps.
