Excellent presentation from K.O., as always. Informative, interesting, entertaining, and insightful.
Reaffirmed my decision to charge for consultations, informed me by providing additional resources in ways I could improve my current intake forms, and explained that the best "sales pitch" is not a sales pitch at all. Taught me to focus on the client more than on my own achievements also--particularly because the client is in a tough time when they arrive at a divorce consultation.
This was definitely a valuable CLE presentation. I have been out of private practice for a while, so I forgot some of the nuances of marketing and whatnot and this was a good refresher. This was also valuable for family law practitioners in the non-profit sector, since our clients some times have the feeling that they are not getting valuable representation when we bring them into our tiny offices. Using the methods KO suggested would definitely help. More than anything, I liked the suggestions to structure the time spent so that the consult doesn't run away from you when clients just take over with their questions or narratives.
I appreciate a more thorough approach to what aspects to walk a client through during the consultation.
