Biography

Hon. W. Neal McBrayer is a judge for the Tennessee Court of Appeals, where he has served since May 2014.  Before his appointment to the bench, Judge McBrayer practiced law for twenty-five years in Nashville, representing clients in commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and aviation matters.    

Judge McBrayer is a fellow of the American, Tennessee, and Nashville Bar Foundations and serves on the boards the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature Foundation and the Tennessee Supreme Court Historical Society.  He is a member of the Harry Phillips American Inn of Court and served as president of the Belmont University College of Law American Inn of Court.  He co-authored Tennessee Secured Transactions Under Revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code: Forms and Practice Manual.

Judge McBrayer received his undergraduate degree from Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee, and his J.D. degree from the College of William & Mary’s Marshall-Wythe School of Law in Williamsburg, Virginia.
