Biography

Hon. W. Neal McBrayer is a judge for the Tennessee Court of Appeals, where he has served since May 2014.  Before his appointment to the bench, Judge McBrayer practiced law for twenty-five years in Nashville, representing clients in commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and aviation matters.    

Judge McBrayer is a fellow of the American, Tennessee, and Nashville Bar Foundations and serves on the boards of Maryville College, the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature Foundation, and the Tennessee Supreme Court Historical Society.  He is a member of the Harry Phillips American Inn of Court and served as president of the Belmont University College of Law American Inn of Court.  He co-authored Tennessee Secured Transactions Under Revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code: Forms and Practice Manual.

Judge McBrayer received his undergraduate degree from Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee, and his J.D. degree from the College of William & Mary’s Marshall-Wythe School of Law in Williamsburg, Virginia.
