Biography

Mr. Burns practices with John Burns Estate & Elder Care Law, PLLC, in Brookhaven, Mississippi.  He focuses his practice in the areas of elder law, estate planning and probate matters. He regularly handles Medicaid and Veterans benefits matters, estate and trust administration, guardianships and conservatorships.
Mr. Burns is a member of the Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi Bar Associations. He is also Past Chair of the Tax Section of the Tennessee Bar Association and a member of the National Tax Steering Committee of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.  A fellow of the American Bar Foundation, Tennessee Bar Foundation, and the Nashville Bar Foundation, Mr. Burns is a prolific writer and speaker.
Mr. Burns received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Mississippi and a LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida.
