David Wykoff has been practicing music business and intellectual property law in Nashville, Tennessee since 1990. His practice includes negotiation and transactional matters, litigation, business entity formation and general music business advising.
His past and current clients include platinum-selling country and rock artists, record producers, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members, Rhythm & Blues Foundation Pioneer Award recipients, Grammy-winning artists,producers and engineers, ground-breaking "alternative rock" acts, country, pop and CCM songwriters, musicians, singers and singer/songwriters in almost every genre of music. The majority of the recording artists that he currently represents operate outside of the traditional major label system. He also represents several management companies, record labels and companies acquiring songs/recordings/royalty streams.
Before and while attending Boston College Law School in the late 1980s, he worked as a professional writer and wrote for The Daily Hampshire Gazette, Rolling Stone, The Boston Globe and many others. He was a contributing writer to Billboard Magazine from 1985 until 1990.
