Biography

Robin L. Miller was appointed Clerk and Master in July 2014 and took office September 8, 2014. She received both her undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Tennessee. Mrs. Miller worked for 20 years with the firm of Gearhiser, Peters in Chattanooga and the last 2 ? years before taking office with the firm of Spears, Moore, Rebman and Williams in Chattanooga. Prior to taking office, Mrs. Miller spent 22 years litigating estate and trust cases along with some domestic cases. 

As the Clerk and Master, Mrs. Miller supervises the clerks in the Clerk and Master Office and sits as a Master with many powers of a Chancellor. As a Master, Mrs. Miller may preside over any questions of law, including divorce or custody matters, land disputes, and estate litigation issues. Mrs. Miller is also frequently called upon as a judicial mediator, where she provides guidance to individuals who have previously mediated unsuccessfully or do not have the funds required to pay for a mediator.

Mrs. Miller is married to Robert Bires, who has spent his career at the McCallie School as an English teacher and administrator. Mrs. Miller and Mr. Bires have two grown daughters, Kathleen, a social worker at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Nashville, and Emma, an associate wealth management advisor at Northwestern Mutual.
