Biography

Brian K. Addington is the judge in the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation’s Gray, TN office. He graduated from the University of Pikeville and the UT College of Law.  After law school, he entered private practice and later served as a corporate attorney for a communications corporation. He began his career with the State in 1996 as the upper East Tennessee Unemployment Appeals Referee with the Department of Labor and Workforce Development.  His efforts led to the passage of legislation that changed the Appeal Referee position to Unemployment Hearing Officer.  He came to work for the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation in 2004 as a Workers’ Compensation Specialist 4. When the legislature created the Court of Worker’s Compensation Claims in 2014, he was chosen as one of the first eight judges. Judge Addington likes to write blog articles for the Court and articles for other entities, including the National Association of Workers’ Compensation Judiciary. He is married to Donna and they have one son, Ian.
