Biography

T. Kevin Bruce is a member and founder of the law firm of HAGLER BRUCE & TURNER, pllc (“HBT”). Mr. Bruce’s law practice is concentrated in the areas of business and commercial transactions, public finance, real estate, general business law and estate planning.  Before joining Hagler Bruce & Turner, PLLC, Mr. Bruce was a partner at Farris Bobango Branan, PLC, a position he held from 2003.  Prior to that, Mr. Bruce was the founder and the Chief Executive Manager of Bruce, Norris & Bass, P.L.L.C., positions he held from the time the law firm was organized in 1998.  From 1996 to 1997, Mr. Bruce was employed by the law firm of Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs, P.L.L.C., where his practice was concentrated in the areas listed above, with emphases on securities law and mergers and acquisitions, particularly in the banking industry.  Mr. Bruce served in the Division of Corporation Finance of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C., from 1993 to 1995, where he regulated various types of securities (e.g., stocks and bonds) transactions, as well as participated in law-making and interpreting.

Mr. Bruce has participated in several legal professional organizations, including the National Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, the Memphis Bar Association and the National Association of Bond Lawyers.  In addition, Mr. Bruce has been active in a number of other professional, civic and community organizations, including The Memphis Challenge, the National Black MBA Association, the Black Business Association, the Midsouth Minority Business Council, the National Association of Black Accountants and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., among others.  In addition to conducting a number of continuing legal education and other seminars, Mr. Bruce has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Memphis, teaching courses entitled “Real Estate Practices” and “Business Associations”.  Mr. Bruce has been involved with several financial institutions, including the Imani Federal Credit Union, which he helped create and for which he served as the first chairperson, and the Postal Employees Credit Union.

Mr. Bruce earned his B.B.A. degree in Finance, with magna cum laude distinction, from Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis) in 1989.  He then earned both his Juris Doctorate (JD) and his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degrees from the University of Virginia in 1993.

Mr. Bruce is married to Pamela Bruce.  They have three children, Imani, Akin and Jakobi.
