Faculty Profile: Daniel Coughlin

Following law school graduation in 1994, Mr. Coughlin clerked for two Tennessee Court of Appeals Judges. Since then, he has engaged in the private practice of law throughout Upper East Tennessee for over three decades, focusing on civil litigation involving personal injuries, Social Security Disability, probate and conservatorships. He has been certified as a Civil Trial Specialist since 2004 by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He has also held the highest available peer review rating (AV) from Martindale-Hubbell since 2005.
Mr. Coughlin served on the TBA's Litigation Section Executive Council (which he chaired in 2012-13) for approximately 16 years, and also served on its Public Education Committee. He's a member of the Bristol Bar, serving as President in 2010.  He currently serves on the Healing Hands Health Board of Directors and the Caring Team and the Committee on Ministry at Holston Valley Unitarian Universalist Church. He previously served as President of the Kingsport Kiwanis Club in 2005-06 and CASA for Kids, Inc. in 2007-08.
