A former defense lawyer who clerked for an appellate judge out of law school and previously represented health care providers and Fortune 500 companies, Parke limits his practice at this time to the representation of families and individuals who have suffered catastrophic injuries.
Parke’s legal practice spans the entire state of Tennessee and he is one of the few attorneys in Tennessee to obtain seven-figure verdicts or settlements in each of Tennessee’s three grand divisions (Western/Middle/Eastern). In the past ten years, Parke, serving as lead counsel, has obtained fourteen separate seven-figure settlements for clients throughout Tennessee and in Southwest Virginia. He has obtained 20 settlements or verdicts of $700,000 or more. Total verdict-settlements over this same time period total more than $55 million. These are real numbers that were actually collected.
Parke has served as lead counsel in a number of high-profile lawsuits including representing the family of Anna Tolston, who burned alive, along with 19 other nursing home residents, in the NHC-Nashville nursing home fire in 2003. Parke also represented a number of families whose mothers were raped and/or sexual assaulted by an employee of the nursing home, James Wright, over an eight year time frame, at the NHC-Bristol facility in Bristol, Virginia. Wright was sentenced to 80 years in prison on May 14, 2010.In December, 2009 Parke served as lead counsel and obtained a $900,000 jury verdict for a family whose mother died of dehydration and sepsis from a number of preventable bed sores at a Mariner-controlled nursing home in the Memphis area. This was the first nursing home negligence case taken to verdict in the history of Shelby County, Tennessee. Parke enjoys working with lawyers who bring him in as co-counsel and is currently involved in litigating complex medical malpractice cases with local lawyers in five different southern states.
Parke is a frequent lecturer for the Tennessee Bar Association for Continuing Legal Education, is the 2017 chair for the Tennessee Bar Association's Tort & Insurance Committee, sits on the McCallie School Athletics Council and is a member of the TennisMemphis Board of Directors. Parke and his wife Whitley have three children and enjoy tennis, hiking and traveling.
