Biography

Jeannette Smith Tysinger started her legal career with a title company in Birmingham, Alabama, working with residential and commercial lending institutions. After moving back to Tennessee, her practice quickly evolved to include more complex real estate matters, corporate and business matters, contracts, nonprofit organization matters and tax-exempt status, and estate planning and administration.  Ms. Tysinger worked with an estate and tax planning and business law boutique firm in the Tri-Cities prior to coming to Hunter, Smith & Davis, LLP in 2011.

Ms. Tysinger has worked extensively in providing guidance in start-up, tax and employment compliance, non-SEC mergers and acquisitions, and business formation, succession and termination issues for small and medium sized businesses. Her current practice also emphasizes estate planning for individuals and families planning for their future or retirement, including revocable and irrevocable trusts, specialized trusts, such as supplemental needs trusts and pet trusts, asset protection trusts, and/or trusts for charitable endowments or scholarships.  Ms. Tysinger has a background in tax and business, along with her legal education, with a degree in accounting and a masters degree in business administration.

Mrs. Tysinger has successfully worked with clients on matters pertaining to Brownfield projects and Tennessee Department of Environmental and Conservation compliance. Through Tennessee’s Payment in Lieu of Taxes Program, she has obtained property tax reduction or elimination for employers.

Mrs. Tysinger has regularly given presentations on various legal topics to attorney and other professional groups.
