Biography

Emily is a Partner in the firm's Creditors' Rights and Bankruptcy and Commercial Litigation practice groups where shespecializes in representing businesses in complex commercial disputes.
Emily's practice has an emphasis in the areas of: banking and finance litigation; bankruptcy law; labor and employment law; trademark disputes; franchise/dealership litigation and transactions; and real estate; and asset foreclosure or acquisition.
Emily earned her undergraduate degree at The University of Tennessee (B.A., cum laude, 1994). She then went on to graduate with her Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis' Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law (J.D., 1998). While at the University of Memphis, Emily was honored with the Dean's Award for academic excellence and the CALI Award for academic excellence in Copyright Law.
Emily is a member of the Tennessee and Arkansas State Bar Associations. Additionally, she is admitted in the United States District Courts for the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of Tennessee; the United States District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Arkansas; the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals; and the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
Emily has been named a Super Lawyer in the area of Business Litigation. Previous to being named a Super Lawyer, she was named as a Rising Star" in the areas of Business Litigation and Franchise/Dealership Law. The Memphis Business Journal named Emily to its "Top 40 Under 40" list and named her as a "Super Woman in Business."
Emily serves on the American Bankruptcy Institutes Southern Regional Development Committee. She also co-chaired the committee that drafted the American Bankruptcy Institute's Report on Standards of Professional Conduct and Courtesy.
In addition to her work within the legal community, Emily serves as the President and Board Member of The 100 Club of Memphis. She is also an Advisory Board Member for Hope House Day Care."
