Chancellor Telford E. Forgety, Jr., has represented Tennessee's 4th and 5th Judicial Districts since taking the bench in 1997. Prior to 1997, he was a partner in the private practice of Rainwater, Forgety, and Jones in Dandridge, Tennessee. He graduated from Memphis State University in 1975, Law Review 1973-1975, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Carson Newman University in 1972.
A frequent CLE speaker, he was awarded the Highest Ranking Judge by The Mountain Press survey in October 2000. He served as President of the Tennessee Trial Judges Association 2009-2010, served as Secretary, Treasurer, and as a member of the Executive Committee, Tennessee Judicial Conference. He has served as a member of the Appellate Judge Evaluation Committee. He is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association as well as the Jefferson, Cocke, Sevier, Blount and Grainger County Bar Associations.
