Biography

Hon. Tom Greenholtz is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and the University of Tennessee College of Law.  He worked as a law clerk to Justice William M. Barker on the Tennessee Supreme Court and as a lawyer with the Chattanooga law firms of Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, and Summers & Wyatt. 

Tom currently serves as a Judge on the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals, having been appointed in 2022 by Governor Bill Lee.  Before that, Tom served for seven years as a judge in the Hamilton County Criminal Court in Chattanooga.  In that capacity, Tom also presided over the Drug Recovery Court and served as presiding judge for the Eleventh Judicial District.

Tom and his wife, Kathryn, have two wonderful children, Caroline and Michael.  He has served as a member of the Vestry at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and as Chairperson of the Boards of the Chambliss Center for Children and Orange Grove Center.  He currently serves as an adjunct professor of political science at UTC, and he is a member of the Rotary Club of Chattanooga.
