Biography

Mary H. Beard holds the position of Senior Technology Counsel at HCA Healthcare, with the goal of enhancing her decades of experience in labor and employment, employee data privacy and contracts law with experience in the ever-evolving technology and Al legal landscape. She is currently the Chief Diversity Officer of the Tennessee Bar Association. Mary was recently recognized in the inaugural class of Leaders in Diversity by the Nashville Business Journal. A graduate of Vanderbilt School of Law, Mary is a founding editor of the Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment Law and Practice (JELP), currently known as The Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment & Technology Law. She currently serves as the President of the Napier-Looby Bar Foundation, the Board of Directors of Alignment Nashville, the Board of Directors for the Sexual Assault Center, and on the Nashville Community Review Board, appointed by former Mayor John Cooper. She is a Fellow of the Nashville Bar Association, Memphis Bar Association, and Tennessee Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. Mary is as a former president of both the Ben F. Jones Chapter and Napier-Looby Bar Associations, affiliates of the National Bar Association. She is a past co-chair of the Tennessee Bar Associations’ Labor and Employment Section Executive Council and the Racial and Ethnic Diversity Committee.
