Biography

Carolyn has experience in business and tax planning, business litigation, corporate governance, compliance, and code and regulation-based planning and problem solving. Her particular areas of regular representations are in transactional taxation and tax litigation, including state and local tax litigation, nonprofits and tax exempt organizations, and federal tax and estate planning.
Carolyn represents companies in state corporate income tax analysis and controversy, sales and use tax audits and claims for refund, business tax compliance, and local property tax litigation for commercial and industrial property owners. She provides advice to energy, communications and transportation companies in property tax planning and litigation.
Carolyn advises profit and nonprofit companies in risk assessment, compliance, corporate governance, and ethics. She also represents nonprofit entities and tax exempt organizations such as public charities, trade and professional associations, private foundations, and religious and educational institutions in business planning and tax exemption qualification at both federal and state levels.
Carolyn works with individuals and families with respect to tax and estate planning, business succession planning, estate and trust administration, and probate litigation matters.
