Biography

Marcia defends employer in workers' compensation and employment matters across Tennessee. Born in Pensacola, Florida she received her undergraduate degree from Florida State University and her law degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. While in law school Marcia was a member of the Cumberland Trial Advocacy Board and received an award of merit in recognition of outstanding performance on the American Trial Lawyers Association National Trial Team. She is a frequent presenter at professional education programs regarding employment issues and the reduction of claims.
In addition to handling cases at the administrative and trial levels, Marcia handles appeals in front of the Tennessee Supreme Court Special Workers' Compensation Appeals Panel, the Tennessee Court of Appeals, the Tennessee Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She is a member of the Tennessee and American Bar Associations, the Mid-South Workers' Compensation Association, the Lawyer's Association for Women (Marion Griffin Chapter), and the Tennessee Defense Lawyers' Association where she is serving her second three-year term as its representative for the Bench-Bar Committee. Marcia was one of 32 attorneys across Tennessee selected for the Tennessee Bar Association Leadership Law Class of 2011, successfully completing that program in June 2011. In 2011, Marcia was selected to serve on the Tennessee Bar Association's Glass Ceiling Initiative, charged with exploring the best practices for female attorneys in the legal profession and examining gender-based pay disparities.
