Biography

After serving as Disciplinary Counsel with the Board of Professional Responsibility for the past 12 years I decided to open Ethics Law, PLLC, a practice solely dedicated to attorney ethics, regulation and licensing.  My practice will be focused in four general areas: Licensing; Discipline & Defense; Consulting & Risk Assessment; and Speaking Engagements.

My legal career began in Memphis with a small litigation firm handling a broad array of practice areas including: family law, criminal defense, business litigation, personal injury, and bankruptcy.  After four years I opened my own practice and expanded my practice to handling consumer protection matters.

In 2009 I relocated to the Nashville area and began working as Disciplinary Counsel for the Board of Professional Responsibility.  While there I handled thousands of investigations and litigated disciplinary cases involving misconduct, temporary suspension, transfers to disability inactive status, reciprocal discipline, and reinstatements.  I became thoroughly familiar with the Rules of Professional Conduct and the rules related to attorney regulation and licensing.

I am the former chair of the Memphis Bar Association's Access to Justice Committee and served for many years as Chair of the Tennessee Bar Association's Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee.  I am also a former Board member and President of Tennessee CASA, a non-profit agency designed to support, develop, expand and unite local CASA programs in recruiting and training volunteers to advocate for Tennessee's children who have been abused and neglected.  Lastly, I served on the Board of Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services where I was co-chair of the Racial Justice & Equity Committee and previously I served as a Board member and President of Tennessee CASA.

I currently serve as a member of the Tennessee Bar Association's Ethics and Professional Responsibility Committee.
