Faculty Profile: Matthew Grossman

Matthew, who grew up in Knoxville, is a third-generation lawyer who places a high priority on building relationships with his clients and making certain they know he is always accessible to them. An excellent listener who truly hears what his clients are saying, he's also known for developing creative solutions to the issues they face.

Practicing in a varied number of fields, Matt specializes in real estate title litigation, municipal and government relations, as well as tax and business planning, complex litigation and defense of the First Amendment.

A member of the Knoxville and Tennessee Bar Associations, Matthew is licensed to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals in the Sixth District and the U.S. Tax Court, as well as all state and federal courts throughout Tennessee

Matt received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt in 1998 and earned his law degree from the University of Tennessee in 2002.  While in law school, he worked for U.S. District Judge James Jarvis and served as an Acting Assistant District Attorney General in Knox County.  He served as a judicial clerk for Justice Riley Anderson of the Supreme Court of Tennessee and for Judge Charles Susano of the Court of Appeals of Tennessee after graduating from law school.  He decided to go back to school, earning his L.L.M. in Taxation from the University of Alabama in order to better serve his clients' needs.
