Biography

CAROL L. McCOY was elected Chancellor of the Chancery Court, Part II, Davidson County Tennessee in August 1996. A Tennessee native born in Kingsport, she was re-elected Chancellor in 1998, 2006 and 2014 and retired on September 1, 2016.
She began her legal career with Legal Services of Nashville. Within a few years, Tennessee Commissioner Jayne Anne Woods asked her to join the legal department with the Tennessee Department of Revenue. Later, Chancellor McCoy entered private practice as partner with Louis Farrell, Jr., a renowned legal expert in suretyship and fidelity bond litigation. Her successful legal practice led to another partnership with the law firm of Davies, Cantrell, Humphreys and McCoy. Shortly after her election in 1996, Chancellor McCoy was elected presiding judge for the Trial Judges of Davidson County, serving from 1998 to 2001. In 2009-2010, Chancellor McCoy was elected unanimously by the 182 state and appellate judges, serving as the first woman President of the Tennessee Judicial Conference. Chancellor McCoy was awarded a Bachelors of Arts degree, with honors, from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida and a Juris Doctorate from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1973. She is married to Justice Roger A. Page on the Tennessee Supreme Court . They have four sons, two daughters-in-law and three grandchildren.
