Biography

Mary-Glenn Hartup joined the Department of Human Services Division of Appeals and Hearings in July 2005 as a Hearing Officer during TennCare disenrollment until becoming a Hearing Officer Supervisor in 2008. In January 2013, she served as the Division’s interim Legal Director until she was selected as the permanent Legal Services Director in October 2014.  In August 2021, Mary-Glenn was selected to serve as the Assistant Commissioner of the Division of Appeals and Hearings.  Since the TEAM Act was enacted, Mary-Glenn serves as a Step I designee to conduct employee discussions when they dispute a disciplinary action.   

She is a 2000 graduate of the University of Kentucky, Bachelor of Business Administration and a 2003 graduate of the University Of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. She graduated from Alliance 3 LEAD Tennessee in 2012 and Tennessee Government Executive Institute in 2015

While away from work, Mary-Glenn enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.  She enjoys exercising, reading, and hiking.  During the summer weekends, she will be relaxing on the Tennessee River and most people just call her MG!
