Biography

Julie Bhattacharya Peak is the Resident Attorney of Tennessee's Field Legal offices in Brentwood, Tennessee.  Ms. Peak is a 1997 graduate of Rhodes College and 2000 graduate of The University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphrey's School of Law, where she was selected Managing Editor of The University of Memphis Law Review. Following law school, Ms. Peak served as the judicial law clerk to the Honorable William C. Koch at the Tennessee Court of Appeals.  Prior to joining Liberty Mutual, Ms. Peak was an equity partner of Ortale, Kelley, Herbert & Crawford where she practiced in the areas of complex insurance defense and coverage litigation including, but not limited to, construction and premises defect, products liability, medical and professional liability, trucking and automobile litigation, and employment discrimination, Ms. Peak has successfully defended high exposure commercial and personal liability claims from inception through jury trials and appeal throughout the State of Tennessee. 
 
Ms. Peak is an AV Preeminentr Peer Review Rated attorney by Martindale-Hubble. Ms. Peak was peer-nominated and selected as a Rising Star in 2010, 2011, and 2012 by SuperLawyers in the field of Insurance Defense and Coverage.  In 2012, Ms. Peak was recognized as Best of Nashville Attorneys by the Editors of the Nashville Scene and was elected a Fellow of the Nashville Bar Foundation in the same year by her peers. Ms. Peak was selected to be an inaugural member of the Tennessee Leadership Law program in 2004 and has continually served the legal community and the community at large.  She is currently a member of the Nashville and Tennessee Bar Association.  She has served on the Tennessee Bar Association Bench and Bar Committee and has chaired the Tort and Insurance Section and now serves on its Executive Committee. Ms. Peak has served for several years on the Executive Board of the Tennessee Lawyer's Association for Women. She also has presented to the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators, of which she is a member, and other industry specific forums. Ms. Peak is fluent in Bengali and has advanced proficiency in Hindi.
