Faculty Profile: Jon York

Jon graduated from Lambuth University in 1997 with a B.A. in political science. He graduated from the Cecil C. Humphries School of Law at the University of Memphis in 2003. While in law school, Jon was on the University of Memphis Law Review, active in moot court competitions, and received the Deans' Distinguished Service Award.

After law school, Jon was a judicial law clerk to the Honorable James D. Todd in the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. He is licensed to practice in the State of Tennessee and the State of Texas, the Western and Middle Districts of Tennessee of the United States District Court, the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas of the United States District Court, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

He is a Life Member of the Sixth Circuit Judicial Conference, a graduate of the Tennessee Bar Association Leadership Law program, served as the Chairperson for the Merit Selection Panel for the Reappointment of United States Magistrate Judge Edward G. Bryant, served as a member of the Merit Selection Panel for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Tennessee, member of the Federal Bar Association, board member of the Federal Bar Association, Mid-South/Memphis chapter, the Tennessee Bar Association, Jackson-Madison County Bar Association, and served as a Board Member for the Jackson-Madison County Bar Association Young Lawyer Division.
