Biography

Thomas began practicing law in 2003 at the firm of Boston, Holt, Sockwell, and Durham in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee focusing on domestic and civil work such as divorce, child custody and personal injury. He then had the opportunity to begin his extensive criminal law background in 2005 with his move to Murfreesboro to the 16th Judicial District District Attorneys Office. As a former Assistant District Attorney General in Murfreesboro, Smryna, LaVergne and all Rutherford County and Cannon County, Thomas prosecuted cases which ranged from as simple as public intoxication to as complicated as first degree murder and has been fortunate to gain important trial experience that has been essential in the representation of all legal matters. 

After 6 years as a prosecutor Thomas entered into private practice in 2010, practicing at Bennett, Parkerson, and Bray and later becoming a founding member of Parkerson Santel, PLLC. His years of experience and involvement in thousands of cases makes him one of Rutherford County’s most experienced Criminal Defense Attorneys. Taking advantage of his time as a prosecutor he used this knowledge as a criminal defense attorney to handle all matter of criminal cases including DUI defense to serious felonies including drug charges and murder. 

As a Criminal Defense Attorney, Parkerson Law handles all criminal matters, including DUI defense, drug charges, violations of probation, thefts, assaults and any misdemeanor or felony. As a Family Law Attorney, Parkerson Law practices in the area of divorce and custody, including creating parenting plans, advising on child support and marital dissolution agreements. Parkerson Law handles complex contested divorces involving disagreements over alimony, child support and parenting plans, assets and debts and also simple divorce matters including uncontested divorces.  

Thomas is also involved in the community as he is a past, Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-President and President of the Rutherford and Cannon County Bar Association. He is a current member of the Rutherford and Cannon County Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, Murfreesboro Chapter of Inns of Courts, a member of the Noon Rotary Club, former Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Murfreesboro YMCA, former compliance chair and former member of the Board of Directors for the Murfreesboro Soccer Club and currently sits as President of the Board of Directors for the Recovery Court / Drug Court of Rutherford County. Thomas has also provided seminars in the past on domestic violence to the Murfreesboro Police Department and has given lectures on Criminal Defense and procedure for continuing education credit for attorneys. He has also been involved in the Murfreesboro chapter of JDRF to raise awareness and help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.

In addition, Thomas coaches his children in soccer and above all enjoys spending time with his family. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1999 and his law degree from Mississippi College School of Law in 2003. He is licensed to practice at all levels of courts in Mississippi and Tennessee and was admitted to practice in front of the Supreme Court of the United States in 2015.
