Thomas Parkerson is a founding member and managing partner of PARKERSON | SANTEL, PLLC. Thomas began practicing law at the firm of Boston, Holt, Sockwell, and Durham in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee focusing on domestic and civil work such as divorce, child custody and personal injury. He then had the opportunity to begin his extensive criminal background in 2005 with his move to Murfreesboro to the 16th Judicial District District Attorneys Office. As a prosecutor Thomas gained vital experience in the courtroom handling cases that ranged from small misdemeanors to major felonies. After 6 years as a prosecutor Thomas entered into private practice at Bennett, Parkerson, and Bray, an association of attorneys. Taking advantage of his time as a prosecutor he used this knowledge to specifically focus on criminal defense for his clients. In 2014 Thomas and his childhood friend and former prosecutor as well, Tommy Santel, opened the firm of PARKERSON | SANTEL, PLLC. The firm has also added the services of attorney Blake Garner who practices in the areas of business law, real estate, employment and personal injury. The firm handles all criminal matters, including DUI defense, drug charges, and any misdemeanor or felony. Other major practice areas include personal injury, divorce and custody, business law, real estate and employment law.
Thomas is also involved in the community as he is a past, Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-President and President of the Rutherford and Cannon County Bar Association. He is a current member of the Rutherford and Cannon County Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, Murfreesboro Chapter of Inns of Courts, a member of the Noon Rotary Club, former Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Murfreesboro YMCA, current compliance chair and member of the Board of Directors for the Murfreesboro Soccer Club and currently sits as President of the Board of Directors for the Recovery Court / Drug Court of Rutherford County. Thomas has also provided seminars in the past on domestic violence to the Murfreesboro Police Department and has given lectures on Criminal Defense and procedure for continuing education credit for attorneys. He has also been involved in the Murfreesboro chapter of JDRF to raise awareness and help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
In addition, Thomas coaches his children in soccer and above all enjoys spending time with his family. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1999 and his law degree from Mississippi College School of Law in 2003. He is licensed to practice at all levels of courts in Mississippi and Tennessee and was admitted to practice in front of the Supreme Court of the United States in 2015.
