Biography

Kent Marcus is a partner in Marcus & Colvin, LLP, an entertainment law firm based in Nashville, Tennessee, which provides focused business affairs and legal counsel for artists and entertainment companies and platforms in the redefining music industry. Prior to his 25 years of experience as an entertainment attorney, Kent spent several years in the film and television industries, as well as working in business affairs for both independent and major record labels.

Kent represents some of the top names in the entertainment industry, including a diverse array of Hall of Fame, grammy-winning artists and estates, songwriters, actors, models/designers, management companies, record labels and distributors, indie and major publishers, grammy-nominated film and television production companies, music festivals, concert promoters and producers, digital service providers, and blockchain/NFT and metaverse platforms. Kent has counseled many clients in the innovative NFT space, including being part of the team behind the launch of the Kings of Leon’s history-making NFT Yourself collection.

Kent is a frequent guest speaker at universities and graduate programs across the United States, and volunteers for the Tennessee Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, Musicians on Call, and Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. Kent has been listed as one of Billboard’s Top Music Lawyers in 2021 and 2022, and is a member of Leadership Music class of 2010.
