Biography

Joshua R. Denton is a solution-oriented attorney who has devoted his professional life to counseling and guiding clients as to how best to reach their goals and objectives. A classically trained business and real estate litigator, Josh developed a strong interest in all aspects of land use, zoning, real estate development and dispute resolution early in his career. He routinely represents clients before local governmental boards and commissions—ranging from local legislative bodies and planning commissions to boards of zoning appeals, utility advisory boards, roadway commissions, and historic zoning commissions. He also represents clients in all types of real estate development transactions and real estate disputes. He and his law partner, Tonya J. Austin, formed Denton Austin PLC in 2022 to focus on serving their clients’ legal needs in these areas.

Josh is a graduate of the University of Kentucky (B.A. 1996; J.D. 1999). He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts sitting in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana, as well as the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Sixth and Federal Circuits and the U.S. Supreme Court.

He and his wife, Susan, live in Franklin with their two children. Josh is active in many civic and charitable endeavors, including serving as a Commissioner on the City of Franklin’s Historic Zoning Commission, a director for the Ancient Art Archive, and a member of Leadership Council for the ALS Association’s Tennessee Chapter.
