Biography

Shannon Romain has worked for the State of Tennessee for over ten (10) years. She graduated from Hampton University in 1995 and the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1999. Her first job after law school was as a Legislative Research Analyst in the Research Division of the Tennessee House of Representatives from 2000 to 2005, where she was assigned to the Children and Family Affairs Committee and the Consumer and Employee Affairs Committee. From 2005 to 2007, she served as the Deputy Legislative Liaison for the Tennessee Department of Health. In 2007, she took the plunge and went into private practice focusing primarily on Family Law. Since 2011, she has served as an Assistant General Counsel with the Tennessee Department of Human Services. 

Shannon has a B.A. in Paralegal Studies, a J.D., and a Masters in Pastoral Studies from American Baptist College in Nashville.

She is a member of the Napier-Looby and the Tennessee Bar Associations. She is on the TBA Animal Law Executive Committee. From 2011 to 2015, she also served on the Davidson County Metropolitan Beer Permit Board and she currently serves as the District Director of Frontiers International, Inc.

Shannon proudly served in the United States Air Force. She spent her entire tour of duty at Langley AFB, in Hampton, Virginia, performing structural repair on F-15 fighter jets and various other aircraft and support equipment. She is also a proud Desert Storm veteran. She was honorably discharged in 1993. 

Shannon spends her free time watching the Food Network, writing, painting, hiking, cooking for friends and rooting for the Titans.
