Biography

William Allen Wooten concentrates his practice in the areas of employment law, business transactions and contract negotiations, corporate and entrepreneurial law, sports and entertainment law, intellectual property, personal injury, estates and trusts, workers' compensation, social security disability, criminal law and collections. Mr. Wooten is admitted to practice law in three states: Tennessee, Missouri and Texas. Mr. Wooten is also admitted to practice in all United States District Courts in the State of Tennessee (Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of Tennessee), the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Eastern District of Missouri. Mr. Wooten is a Tennessee Rule 31 certified civil and family law mediator and enjoys resolving disputes through the use of alternative dispute resolution techniques.
Mr. Wooten has obtained numerous accolades in his profession including being named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Employment Law for the past two years, a Top 10 Under 40 Personal Injury Attorney in the State of Tennessee by the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys, and a Top 40 under 40 Criminal Defense Lawyer in the State of Tennessee for 2017 by the American Society for Legal Advocates. He is a recognized leader in his profession and community and has completed the TOTAL Tipton County Leadership Class and the 2017 Tennessee Bar Association Leadership Law ("TBALL") Class. Mr. Wooten prepares and files trademarks and drafts and negotiates contracts for numerous celebrity and athlete clients and their corporate entities including, but not limited to, Mark Cuban, Kenny Smith, Nelly, Meek Mill, Justise Winslow, and Shantell Jackson. Mr. Wooten has presented on numerous legal topics in Memphis and the Mid-South including "Legal Opportunities in Sports and Entertainment Law" "Trademarker to the Stars- Trademark Stories of the Rich and Famous" Defending and Deposing Doctors" "Judgment and Debt Collection Tactics" and "HR Issues in Troubled Times."
Mr. Wooten is heavily involved in the community and supports numerous causes in Tipton and Shelby Counties. He currently sits on the Board of Life Options of West Tennessee, Inc., a representative payee and elderly care company in Memphis that recently obtained a certificate of need for a nursing home facility in Brighton, Tennessee,is a Board Member of the South Tipton County Chamber, is a member of the Personnel Committee for Tipton Christian Academy, and is a member of the Citizen Advisory Committee for the City of Covington Park and Recreation Department. He also is a member and former scholarship chair of the Covington Rotary Club and loves coaching youth sports teams in Memphis and Covington in baseball, football and basketball. Mr. Wooten is married to Attorney Meredith Alston Wooten, and they have three children- Hudson, Jones and Willa.
