Biography

Tim Hughes is the HELP4TN Program Manager and a staff attorney with the Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services. Since its launch in January 2013, Tim has run the state's only free legal helpline for low-income Tennesseans, 844-HELP4TN, handling over 43,000 calls.  He also manages HELP4TN.org and is the state's site administrator for the American Bar Association's Free Legal Answers website. Tim is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association's Access to Justice Committee and serves on the board of directors for Disability Rights Tennessee. He's a 2019 alumnus of both Leadership Tennessee Next and the Tennessee Bar Association Leadership Law class.  Before joining TALS, Tim worked as a staff attorney with Memphis Area Legal Services and the Memphis Fair Housing Center obtaining divorces and orders of protection for survivors of domestic violence and representing clients facing evictions and foreclosures. He received a B. S. from the University of Tennessee in 2004 and his J. D. from the University of Memphis in 2007.
