
J. Scott Griswold is the Clerk of the Appellate Courts. In this role, he serves as the administrative leader of the clerk’s office for Tennessee’s Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and Court of Criminal Appeals.
Scott earned undergraduate degrees from Middle Tennessee State University in accounting and political science. He attended The University of Tennessee College of Law, graduating in 2007. Scott began his career clerking for then Chief Justice William M. Barker of the Tennessee Supreme Court. He entered private practice and represented a diverse array of clients throughout East Tennessee. In 2022, the Knox County Chancellors appointed him Clerk and Master of the Chancery Court for the Sixth Judicial District where he implemented a wide range of technology and process changes while also presiding over the Court’s probate docket.
Scott is a member of the Knoxville and Tennessee bar associations.
