Biography

Judge Martin is a 1969 graduate of Vanderbilt University. He served in the United States Army from 1969 to1971. He then attended Vanderbilt Law School and graduated in 1974. Judge Martin practiced law in middle Tennessee from 1974 to 2008 focusing primarily on civil litigation with an emphasis on family law for the last 20 years of his practice. In 2008, Judge Martin was appointed by Governor Bredesen to fill an unexpired term of Judge Robert E. Lee Davies of the 21st Judicial District. Judge Martin then ran and was elected in 2010 and 2014. He is a member of the Nashville Bar Foundation, the Tennessee Bar Foundation, the Tennessee bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Williamson County Bar Association, the Thurgood Marshall Inns of Court and the American College of Trial Lawyers.
