Carolyn Lazenby is the Executive Director of the Board for Licensing Contractors. Responsibilities include overseeing five (5) licensing professions: Contractors, Home Improvement Contractors, Limited Licensed Electricians, Limited Licensed Plumbers, and Prelicensed Course Providers (over 30,000 licensees). In addition, serves on the Board of Directors with the National Association of State Contractor Licensing Agencies (NASCLA); served as President in 2009. Also served on the Employee Misclassification Advisory Task Force (EMATF) from 2011 – 2014.
Has 34 years of service with the State of Tennessee, with 27 years at the Board. Lives in Dickson and married to Robert Lazenby, going on 33 years; three children, with the youngest a junior in high school; and lastly, a three (3) year old grandson.
The Board strives to assure quality and fair construction practices exist throughout all phases in the industry to protect the safety and welfare of the public through the regulation of contracting. There are nine (9) members on the Board, each appointed by the Governor for a term of seven (7) years. All are active in the construction industry with the exception of one (1) public member.
