Faculty Profile: Alicia Cottrell

Alicia Cottrell is a December 2008 graduate of the University of Tennessee's Colleges of Law and Business. Following graduation, Ms. Cottrell joined Hodges, Doughty and Carson, PLLC in Knoxville as an associate practicing mostly in litigation, particularly medical malpractice defense, and later joined Butler Snow LLP's Nashville office as an associate in the firm's healthcare regulatory and transactions practice group. In December 2014, Ms. Cottrell became associate counsel in Tenet Healthcare's Law Department, serving as operations general counsel for several of the company's hospitals. In April 2018, Ms. Cottrell joined the Legal Department of Children's Hospital of Orange County as its Associate General Counsel. In her current role, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the team and has responsibility for contracting, fraud and abuse analyses, compliance and risk management advising, among other topics.
