Biography

Holland Matthews is a life-long resident of Columbia, Tennessee. Growing up around members of the legal community, Holland received an early education on the workings of the law and its purpose of protecting those who need it.

Holland is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He received his law degree from the Appalachian School of Law in Virginia, graduating Summa Cum Laude in the top 1% of his class. While in law school, Holland achieved several academic and philanthropic achievements, including serving as an associate editor of the Appalachian Journal of Law, receiving "Book Awards" for the highest marks in six classes, and completing over 200 hours of volunteer service to the local community.

In addition to the law, Holland has always loved the outdoors and being in the woods or on the waters of Middle Tennessee. Like Richard, Holland is also a pilot, certified for single-engine aircraft. He obtained his pilot's license over the summer before he started law school.

Holland's current practice primarily involves plaintiff's civil litigation, with a focus on personal injury. Abiding by his belief that the law is to provide equal protection for all, he focuses his efforts on ensuring that those who have been harmed by the wrongdoing of others are treated fairly by all. Since joining the Firm, he has handled workers compensation matters and personal injury cases involving defective products, medical negligence, wrongful death, automobile accidents, Article 2 Commercial Code issues, tractor-trailer collisions, violations of the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act, and insurance bad faith.
