Biography

Shannon Farr, Decosimo's Director of Valuation Services, is a valuation specialist with more than 15 years of accounting experience. Her practice has focused on business valuation and litigation support since 2004. She is accredited in business valuation (ABV) and also certified in financial forensics (CFF).

Shannon provides valuation services to clients in a wide variety of industries, with a focus on healthcare entities. Her specialized expertise in this area assists hospital and health system clients in ensuring their acquisitions meet industry regulations surrounding the concepts of fair market value and commercial reasonableness.

Shannon also performs fair value for financial reporting valuations to be used in purchase price allocations and goodwill impairment testing. Her litigation support experience has been used in numerous marital dissolution cases as well as contract and shareholder disputes. Shannon provides expert witness testimony, as well as serving the court as Special Master.

Before moving to Chattanooga, Shannon was an audit partner with a public accounting firm in Birmingham, Alabama. She provided audit, tax and consulting services to clients in numerous industries, including healthcare, government, not-for-profit, construction and fabrication, manufacturing and insurance. She also performed due diligence and assisted clients with mergers and acquisitions.

Shannon graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee, located in Knoxville. She is a member of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA), where she has been appointed to serve on the association's Healthcare Conference Committee. She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) and the Alabama Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA). Shannon currently serves as Treasurer for the Signal Mountain Youth Baseball League, and is an active board member of the Thrasher Elementary Parent-Teacher Association.
