Biography

JUSTIN SIEVERT is a founding partner at Sievert Werly LLC where he divides his practice between litigation and transactional matters, concentrating on sports regulatory issues, NCAA enforcement and compliance, Title IX, business litigation and contract drafting and negotiation. Additionally, Justin serves as an adjunct sports law professor at the University of Tennessee College of Law and has taught other graduate and undergraduate-level courses on NCAA and NAIA compliance, legal and ethical issues in athletics administration, labor and employment law and business law. Before launching Sievert Werly in 2017, he worked in the college sports practice group at a national boutique sports law firm where he counseled clients on issues ranging from NCAA infractions investigations, Title IX and performance-enhancing drug testing to general civil litigation and employment law. He also owned and operated his own consulting firm, Sievert Collegiate Consulting, where he provided guidance to colleges and universities on internal investigations, NCAA compliance and enforcement matters, Title IX and athletics assessment and strategic planning initiatives. As a frequent sports industry speaker, Justin has given presentations at national conferences and legal symposiums, as well as seminars and workshops tailored to an organization’s specific needs. Additionally, he has served as a contributing writer for Sporting News on legal issues in sports, has been quoted by numerous national media outlets, including, The New York Times, the Miami Herald, Forbes, and Bloomberg BNA and has served as a guest on multiple sports talk show radio programs. Justin received his B.A. in political science from Union College (NY) in 2003, where he was a four-year starter on the varsity football team and a three-time All-American for the track and field program. He graduated with a M.Ed from St. Lawrence University in 2005 and a J.D. from the University of Miami (FL) School of Law in 2008.
