Sandy Bledsoe is the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Risk and Insurance Management at Vanderbilt University. She has been employed in the Department of Risk and Insurance Management for over 25 years and has been involved in most aspects of the risk management operations at one time or another. She supervises a staff of 20. Vanderbilt self-administers its claims, so Sandy has had experience managing all types of claims from initial investigation through litigation.
Sandy received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Harding University in 1981, her ARM designation in 1990 and her CPHRM designation in 2006. Additionally, she has had training in conflict management and quality improvement and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Conflict Management. She has contributed to two publications regarding learning and improvement from analysis of medical malpractice claims. She is a member of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, the Risk and Insurance Management Society, and the University Risk Management and Insurance Association. In addition, she is a board member of Alive Hospice.
