Biography

David Cranford, a principal in the Decosimo Healthcare Practice, holds more than 25 years of experience as a senior executive and financial manager in the healthcare field. Specializing in physician services and healthcare consulting, David is dedicated in the areas of physician practice management, healthcare mergers and acquisition advisory, and healthcare financial consulting -- including outsourced accounting, compensation modeling, due diligence and financial forecasting. He also provides expert witness testimony as litigation support in healthcare cases involving contractual disputes. David has significant experience with the coordination of a variety of services to physician practices and the support of hospital CFOs in activities that include business office management, bond compliance and financial analysis for CON, product lines, joint ventures and budgeting.

During his career, David served as a Chief Financial Officer of a community hospital, and he also served as a Controller and Vice President of Finance at a tertiary teaching hospital. His responsibilities included financial reporting, budgeting, bond compliance, cash management, registration, patient accounts receivable, medical records, information services, decision support, and purchasing services as well as reporting to the Board of Directors.

As a hospital executive, David assisted with the financing and construction of a free-standing cancer center and ambulatory surgery center utilizing bank secured tax-exempt debt and in the formation of a free standing joint venture for radiology services with the hospital and the radiologists. He has been involved in the State Hospital Associations for Medicaid for Tennessee and Georgia. David has also been responsible for coordinating physician practice activities for a hospital, including the oversight of billing and business operations for recruited physicians and coordination of billing and tax services required by the physician practices.

A graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a degree in Business Administration, David is a certified public accountant licensed in Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and California. He is a member of the National Association of Public Hospitals.
